Lingua Compass

Cultural Activities

Every element of our program is meticulously designed to ensure students have the best experience while learning Arabic.

Lingua compass incorporates a variety of activities that facilitate immersive learning,

such as trips, cooking, calligraphy, local excursions, internships, and volunteer opportunities.

Cooking

Morocco's unique geographical position has greatly influenced its diverse and rich gastronomy, renowned globally for its exquisite flavors and taste. We provide our students with the chance to enhance their Arabic language skills while taking part in cooking workshops led by various independent chefs. These chefs could be members of a host family, hired professionals, or employees of Lingua Compass. In Morocco, cooking is a cherished activity for everyone.

Music

Just like its cuisine, Moroccan music is incredibly diverse. Genres such as Chaabi, Gnawa, Reggada, Ahwach, Tarab Andaloussi, and Al Aata are all distinct, yet they coexist harmoniously within the same region. Each genre has unique origins: Gnawa draws from African roots, Ahwach from Berber traditions, and Tarab Andaloussi from Spanish influences. Students who play instruments, are learning to play, or simply love discovering new music, are thrilled when they hear Al Ganbri or Krikbat for the first time.

Pottery

We are excited to offer a pottery-making activity specifically for our international students in Morocco. This hands-on experience provides a unique opportunity to explore Morocco's rich pottery tradition, fostering creativity and cultural exchange. Participants will learn various techniques, from shaping clay to glazing their finished pieces, all under the guidance of skilled Moroccan artisans. This activity not only allows students to create their own beautiful and functional art but also to connect with Moroccan culture in a meaningful and memorable way.

Calligraphy

It’s widely known that Arabic stands apart from Latin languages, with its unique alphabet, occasionally tricky rules, and challenging phonetics for non-native speakers. However, one universally admired aspect is Arabic calligraphy. We organize this activity to delve deeper into the exquisite artistry of Arabic handwriting, allowing everyone to appreciate its beauty.
